I have been wondering when a website or some other electronic medium would spring up and be used as an online, defacto government. The power of mass media has changed drastically...obviously. Politicians can get immediate feedback on almost anything.

Does anyone else see an online "uprising" that will significantly influence elected leaders?

How will this counteract the power of organized groups and lobbyists?

This is an interesting inquiry, in my opinion, with multiple levels, however.

To start, I feel that the influence that President Obama had over the people of the Internet when he did his Reddit AMA was a huge step forward. I feel that more of that type of conversation needs to happen, along with things such as the Google Hangout meetings which have happened as well. It gives the people a stronger voice than we've ever had before in politics.

In terms to the government itself, the whitehouse.gov website is starting to get a little more interactive. Take, for instance, the petition site which allows people to start ideas, get signatures and get them considered by the gov.

Overall, though, I don't see one website yet being the de facto.
