Jordan sent me this interesting article - and since I haven't had a chance to test Branch I thought I'd use the moment to give it a try.
The fragmented map landscape is really confusing to me. I can't understand why Google added such a heavy API cost to their maps - it's rapidly erasing their massive market share and branding via thousands of popular apps like Foursquare. (they did this wish Shopping too, another Branch?).
Lost in this is the location database behind the mapping. Apple uses YELP, which is ridiculous. Is foursquare's database more dependable? When I arrive somewhere that is missing a piece of information, foursquare now says to me "hey superuser, can you help us find the phone number of this establishment".
