Sometimes it's nice to get our of your bubble a little bit on Twitter. If you don't work at it, it's really easy to only follow a handful of tech folks and pretty much neglect the whole rest of the world.

I follow Alan Carlson (@Rusureofit), who's a corn and soybean farmer in Minnesota and thanks to the drought has been a nice reality check on how badly affected many parts of the Midwest were over the summer months and into the fall harvest. And also Jon Hendren (@fart), who's a writer but has made sort of a name for himself by retweeting sort of, um... oddball corners of Twitter.

I also enjoy following "normal" friends from high school/college who use Twitter. Most interesting to anyone else would probably be Vinnie Sunseri, who plays football at Alabama. As expected he retweets fans, but also spends plenty of time joking with friends/teammates, flirting with girls, etc: @vsunseri3

Keeping with the athlete trend, you can get some absolute gems by following college athletes. My favorite recent one was from NCSU guard Rodney Purvis, who was just academically cleared to join the team: twitter.com

Clearly he hasn't passed English 101 yet...

@DadBoner is a great follow on Twitter.

My friend runs a hilarious account, @doothy - it's her alter ego, an always hungry crazy lady.

Also, they've gone inactive sadly, but these two Jenny Holzer parody (but actually more like homage... they actually sound like her) accounts are great reads anyway.

If you don't know Jenny Holzer, you should. She's the subject of The Artist is Present, etc.

Probably could still use more arts and artists in my feed...

This is a good branch. It's funny because most of my time is spent on space, astronautics, 100 Year Starship, and companies like SpaceX or Icarus Interstellar.

Wanted to add Amaeryllis, too. It's a pseudonymous account of a corporate lawyer in NYC who tweets a whole bunch of really awesome but also ridiculous stuff. She's an especially good follow during any sort of Supreme Court rulings as she is actually really well-versed in case law and is amusingly helpful in calling bullshit on a lot of major media headlines / tropes.

Love this because it makes any day funnier.
