So it can be in any platform. The question to me came when I was deciding between staying with the official iOS app or go with Instacast. So if you use iOS which one do you prefer?

In the case of Android users I heard they discontinued Listen, which one do you use?

I don't know. I only listen to podcasts when driving, where the iPhone is connected to my radio, or when jogging, walking around, etc. I've never found myself in a situation where I have wanted to listen to a podcast on an iPad.

I see. Normally i listen to audio podcasts on the iPhone and video podcasts on the iPad, but i like to have them on the same place so if i must then i could watch the video ones on the iPhone too.

Good point about video podcasts. I watch these on the Apple TV, and I like to keep these subscriptions out of my iPhone, mainly because of mobile bandwidth concerns.

At first I used to download every podcast I listened to. That got tiresome, fast. I started using RSS Player, then called Podcaster. I used that for a long time. Now, I downloaded Apple's Podcast app and am now using it, although it has been a while since I actively listened to podcasts.

After using Apple's Podcasts App I switched back to Instacast. I felt that the Apple app was buggy at times.

Instacast is pretty great. I'm not sure if the iCloud sync is working perfectly just yet, but it's nice to switch from iPhone to iPad and continue listening where I left off.

If they made a desktop and android version, well that would just be perfection.

For what it's worth, I prefer Downcast. Didn't make me pay twice (well, thrice with the IAP) like Instacast and great iCloud support

Good to know, I may revisit Downcast in the future again. it was my first podcast app a long time back.

I use Doggcatcher on my Android phone. I only do audio podcasts, haven't found any that uses video in a compelling way. Its usually peoples faces and static cameras. I change my playlists a lot and Doggcatcher makes it easy to just autodownload some stuff instead of the full podcast list. I find the iPAd cumbersome for podcasts, I do susbcribe to some iTunes university content. Pretty good stuff and easy to update.

I use @Downcast. I pay for Downcast because it's an Universal App and sometimes is very nice to watch videos on the iPad.
It has all the features needed and the iCloud sync is really great.
They improved a lot the perfromance with many feeds in the lastests updates.

I've purchased most of the podcast players for iOS, including InstaCast (regular and HD/iPad), Downcast, iCatcher, Pocket Casts, and AudioPress (discontinued). And of course Apple's offering.

Of the lot, I prefer InstaCast (so far, giving extended testing to all) for the user interface, but it is kind of crashy on my iPhone. It never loses its place, though, so it's only mildly irritating. Giving Downcast the next two weeks, we'll see.

I too, have purchased and tried them all... I'd have to give my vote to Downcast. The various options, reliability and constants updates and improvements from the developer have led me to quit jumping back and forth and landing on this app as the best for me!

I've been enjoying downcast over my old approach of using iTunes, and then using the apple podcasting app. I'm liking that it can download the podcasts over any wireless network (no need to sync to the home computer), and that it can play back at a higher speed (I'm using 2.75 times for playback).

After trying every podcast manager on IOS Downcast has easily become my #1.

I agree Downcast is the best.

I'm still dying for a player that has iOS and web/desktop clients that syncs progress.

I'm back at Instacast 3 , and they promised a Mac client soon.

I heard they were working on something over a year ago. I want in on that beta.
