I'm wondering what's next. A social web has been the driving force for the past couple of years but what do you think is the next big trend that everyone is going to trying to build/complete with? I'm a real fan of what Pintrest is doing although I don't have a place for the product the ways they can monazite are amazing(selling trend data)

My guess is more intimate interaction. And Nuno is right, Branch is the first step towards that. With the Twitter API changes, Facebook's advertising debacle, MySpace completely lost, networks that help better connect the web to our lives will prevail. branch got started on the idea of dinner table conversations. As video, non, and fiber optic technology gets better, video chat will become a logic thing to implement. At the moment it's slow, low quality, and an awkward way to have a conversation. The next web will have video conversations that are comparable dinner table conversations.

In addition, if we look at history, after discovering something new it takes time to become organized. The next phase of the web will tagged and archived.

I think we can't really forecast what's next. I think more personal data (fitness data, quantified-self movement) will have the potential to drive the web. Who really knows what new web services may arise with more and more large personal data sets. But if websites continue to wall off, the impact will be much less.

I do believe that the domination of "free" web services will lessen.

Additionally, it's up to us, the users. How will we use the web?
