I am trying to find the right ones for myself, but options seem endless!

I'm a big fan of Scope at the moment, which aggregates a number of services (single handle for each service, though).

What sort of `manage` do you mean?

I used to use Seesmic (which has been acquired by HootSuite it seems), that seems to be the defacto standard for a marketing sort of approach, at least from what I hear.

Exactly, I meant sort of the Hootsuite kind. I had a look at Buffer, which works great but I happen to feel it could extend itself a bit more. I sincerely don't feel that confortable with Hootsuite's UI.

I've noticed some people use Posterous as well, and there are some many other services out there that I started to feel overwhelmed and wondered if I might be missing the best one for not asking.

Also I'm not really looking for a marketing tool approach, but more for making it more simplistic to send messages across services instantly without much hassle. For content streaming I still feel better using the services' webs or apps.

Seems like an under serviced market and an opportunity for the next great cloud service start up.

I was a fan of Posterous until Twitter acquired them for their talent and not the platform. Since then there is no support and the connections to other services (including Twitter) are breaking. Like Greg, I used Seesmic but following the HootSuite buyout, its not an option for me.

Not ideal but I use ifttt.com to coordinate cross platform posting, which works once you get the recipes set up but its not a central management system. Also using paper.li, streamified.com and flipboard.com, each for different reasons, to view and in some cases pull streams together. Still looking for the perfect tool though.

Anthony, what's your take on Buffer? I like IFTTT for specific things, but I would rather have something more centralised. I do believe as you do that there is a great opportunity to build a much better integrated service that doesn't cater only to marketers but to the general everyday user.

I just started testing out Buffer last week actually. I haven't had a chance to really dig into yet. So far I noticed that although it is limited to Twitter, Facebook, App.net and LinkedIn it does provide the ability to support multiple Twitter accounts, supports Facebook Pages and LinkedIn groups. If you sign up for the "Awesome account" you can add up to 12 Twitter accounts. The Awesome account also allows you to link to your Facebook account and Facebook pages as well as your LinkedIn account and LinkedIn Groups. Without the Awesome account you can only have 1 Twitter, 1 Facebook, 1 LinkedIn and App.net accounts linked. The free account is probably fine for most users though, it just depends what you ultimately intend to use it for.

Hootsuite is my go-to for multiple accounts but I'm really liking Jugnoo as well. It has a lot of built in bells and whistles even in the free account.Aslo worth a look- sproutSocial. I use Buffer but only for scheduling, the auto-scheduling in Hootsuite still needs work.

Buffer has been great for me. I only manage one account so it's not too complex. The issue it solves for me is that it spreads the content out throughout the day for visibility. I saw an open source alternative the other day called Circular. circular.io

Another option that I ran across is gremln.com. It provides many of the same features discussed in earlier posts and allows you to manage Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn in the free version and creates dashboards for each one, similar to Hootsuite. There are a lot of options, but the only difference I really notice, besides the color scheme, is in Gremln the dashboards remain separate, whereas in Hootsuite you can create your own dashboard to see all your streams on one dashboard. Just another option ;)
