Joshua Benton summarizes the emergence of Medium, Svbtle, App.net, and Branch as "a movement" toward "'Quality' platforms." Choire dubs it the "Pretty Web." And John says it's "The New Internet," explaining, "These sites want to fix the whole thing: to remake comments, content, and updates with little to no encumbrance from the current web." Do you think this (perceived) change is a good thing?
And even if it is, can "native advertising" carry these new services? Choire, for one, hates "native ads" and only thinks they're gonna get worse. BuzzFeed seems to think differently, as does Twitter and Tumblr.
Curious to hear your thoughts. Is this "Clean Web" movement inevitable? And is there an AdWords-equivalent hiding in the rough?
