Awesome project. I'm interested in it in the same way I would be in, say, performance art. I can tell it's a bit of an experiment, and I can't quite decide whether I want to feel what it would be like to participate or just observe it from the outside.

Super curious: Why'd you build it?

Brad and I have been collaborating for a year or two. This project was an extension of blindmist.com. We are interested in making systems based artwork that engages people in a visceral way. Personally I am very interested in privacy online and wanted to create a scenario where it is very easy to be a voyer but in order to do so you must relinquish all privacy. Looking forward to how it will pan out. Did you sign up?

yes. adding the extension crashed my chrome briefly but it was worth it. this is totally nuts.

I'm kind of scared to. But I will. I can unlink if it's just a Chrome extension, right?

Also hilarious amounts of porn on the main site's feed currently. And a ScrollKit logo. Hahaha.

Also Blindmist looks really cool, too. It reminds me a bit of a tap essay in a weird, kind of Chat Routletteish way.

I've been thinking a lot about the pros/cons/implications of sequential ordering since, clearly, that's how Branch is set up, too. Your mind wants to make it a story for some reason even if the images, words, etc. are (like in Blindmist's case) in totally random order.

(Is story even the right word? Not sure.)

For some reason I'm having flashbacks to college psych classes where you were primed with certain things and then shown a bunch of images and then asked which ones you remembered. Unexpected re-presentation of things is a really strong influence.

Just murdered it by visiting Pinterest, too. ALL THE DRESSES!

That's what is interesting. In some sense it is random because it's a random group of people but there are obvious patterns in a visit. you end up trying to guess which images are related. And then you can easily troll it by going to xtube or pinterest.

On the bus on the way home looking out the window and thinking about the IRL equivalent. Picking up all the signs and billboards and stuff.

Yes definitely. Some of the more notable things for me are being exposed to images that you don't realize you see and how much of using the web is being confronted with representations of yourself in avatars, profiles, etc.
