What makes the sport of golf so challenging is the right combination of power and finesse. Anchored golf clubs could act as a "crutch" for players struggling on the green.
I think we can all agree that on a recreational level it should be allowed. What I'm not sure of is if the same set of rules should apply for both competitive and recreational golfers. I'm not saying they should deviate from the traditions of the game and have separate rules, but if the rule modifications are to level the playing field between golfers, they need to account the large gap between recreational and professional.
