Got an old chestnut, or even an anecdote from today that will become a story you'll be telling in the years ahead?
In 1974 we were busy baking for Xmas. My mom saw a shack on NC98 outside Wake Forest with several children playing outside in old clothing. Over the next three days we approached business folk & fired up the ovens. On Xmas Eve we approached the house and knocked on the door. A young mother met us and invited us in. The shack was spartan & lighted with oil lamps. A wooden fire barely warmed the place. The mother was in need as her husband was away for the holiday attempting to make a bit of cash. We brought in stacks of food, clothing, toys, and a robe for the mother. I'll never forget the glee from the three kids and the tears of relief and joy flowing from that young mother. Life is much too short not to make memories of giving.
