Cap Watkins, the Design Lead at Etsy, quit Linkedin and blogged about his thoughts. Like Cap, many of us have had to quit a service you used and used to love, due to the product degrading from scaling to either appeal to larger audiences or strive for business milestones.
Cap ends his post with a familiar refrain, which is "There must be another way". We've all heard about the uproar over the major social networks over product changes; consumer startups are often subject of product-vs-profit scrutiny. So just what ARE the other ways for non-commerce consumer startups to scale? Must it be at the cost of product purity?
