With the introduction of apples mini iPad its just got me thinking whats the need for so many devices. instead of creating another device "between the size of a phone and a full size tablet" why don't companies look at integration of one device/ many docks. I know Motorola tried this with the ATRIX. thoughts?

Well I have bought into the Microsoft ecosystem (say what you will), and with a desktop, laptop and windows phone at hand, I find a use for each of them.
Looking forward im really keen to add a tablet (ideally a surface pro) into the equation. Being more powerful, and more portable than a laptop, it seems the perfect 'carry around' device.
I do agree that integration would make a lot of sense, and I hope we will see more ideas down the line. However, unless apple initiate the plan, I cant see it taking off..

don't feel bad for buying into Microsoft. Im a consumer. just as much as i am a consumer of apple. I owned an ATRIX and well as an iPhone before that and after that. My primary computer is an ASUS gaming laptop.(plus my XBOX)
however I am very familiar with the macbooks as well. The issue with the world of computers and electronics is if everything were to combine it would not be like the integration of BluRays. let me explain.. with a bluray player a person can still play regular DVDs. In the gadget world we would have been forced even more to choose a side. DVD Vs. BluRay. (Microsoft Vs. Apple).

I guess that may have been a bad example because i compleatly forgot about the HDDVD's that died with the acceptance of BluRay..

The solution to this problem seems to be Asus's PadFone.It's a tablet.It's a phone whenever you need one of them you use it and all of this for the price of a tablet.

I don't think the proliferation of "phablets" will last. Phones and tablets both serve a distinct purpose. What I see happening is an increase in hybrid notebook/tablets much like the Surface or the Lenovo Yoga.
