Did anyone here ever watch the (2000) soap opera "Passions"?
It was a ground-breaking soap in many ways, but my favorite thing about it was the setting. Most soaps follow the lives of the landed gentry and their servants as they fall in and out of love, and deal with things like blackmail, kidnappings, terrorist explosions, and evil twins. We're supposed to just accept that they live wildly improbable (or impossible) lives.
"Passions" is set in a small New England town. In this town lives Tabitha, a reincarnation of a witch burned at the stake 400 years ago. To get revenge, she uses her (considerable) magic powers to make sure nobody in town can ever find true love or happiness.
Kinda makes other soaps look lame and thinly-plotted, huh?
