We are not paid to rethink the system that sustains us. Every work day we face modern challenges to solve tasked problems, show off our technical brilliance, & execute goals. If employed by VISA or MasterCard, I'm tasked with finding an interchangeable business model that maximizes my current market cap.

We follow societal rules of a Constitution that says gun rights and gun violence offer equal protection from our government.

A startup is a different path. It's Dwolla, GitHub, or an founding group to rethink how we live. To look across complex problems only to remember to throw out the playbook. To think why something is better. To change perspectives.

Startup is a mindset. Yo don't have to work for a startup in your flip-flops, surrounded by cool dudes and dudettes coding all day to qualify.

You can choose to be brave and pursue your art, no matter what, and with it bring your brilliance to play. If the powers to be do not accept that behavior, move on. But you can convince them that your brilliance work by demonstration: demonstrate that your care deeply about your work/art. Demonstrate that you count and that they can count on you. Demonstrate when you fail that you don't pass blame. Demonstrate that you are brave.
