Rather than design organisations as delivery mechanisms for customer/user experiences, how do we design organisations as platforms for the individual experiences of all stakeholders, including employees?

Thanks. I'm wondering what makes a strong organisation and what an organisation is if it is not a group of people but actually a platform for all stakeholders. This article I just read talks about a similar idea of not distinguishing between inside and outside. rossdawsonblog.com (via @murraybuchanan)
Have a look at this Slideshare I wrote in 2009 - right up your street mate - slideshare.net.
You may especially love the political and sociological timelines at the end.
I've thought for years that there is no internal and external in the social organisation. That's why the words Visceral Business have 'is us' highlighted, right in the middle.
The key questions to answer it seems to me are -
1. Is it possible for existing organisations to migrate to this model, or do they have to be invented?
2. If existing organisations are capable of that transition, what are the key drivers for it?
3. What are the risks associated in doing so, and not doing so?
4. What are the best ways to scale an organisation that's conceived in this way?
Having just checked, the political and sociological timelines are actually nearer the beginning of that Slideshare. You'll get the idea though, that the direction of travel towards more granular and individual access to power is pretty much inevitable.
