Ironically, his form of "pluralism" is deeply disrespectful to billions of people who actually believe in the truth-claims of their religions. You don't respect adult believers in religion by condescendingly patting them on the head and reducing their beliefs to mere psychological "instruments." You respect them partly by taking the propositional nature of their truth-claims seriously.

That's just not an accurate representation of the kind of belief I see most often. When people I know say "Christ died for my sins", they are all describing what they believe to be an actual historical event.

I'm frustrated by this kind of faux-mature "philosophy". Philosophy should be about the seeking of true facts about the universe we live in. If that seeking leads us to disagree, let's disagree. It's dishonest and cowardly to sacrifice the very idea of objective truth just so "we can all get along". Leave that kind of thing to self help, diplomacy or psychiatry, and leave philosophy (and theology) to those who believe there is objective truth to be found.
