Let's start here: Who are you all putting in the Final Four? (You can even link to your bracket on USA TODAY Sports.)

I've got Louisville, Gonzaga, VCU and Indiana. Three No. 1 seeds, I know, but still...

Here's my bracket:

I've only got one No. 1 seed in mine with two sleepers: Duke, Kansas, New Mexico, Miami.

You really like VCU in the Final Four? I've seen that pick a lot.

Well, I've been keeping an eye on both VCU and Saint Louis as possible Final Four teams out of the A-10. SLU is in the same region as Louisville, so....that leaves VCU! I think Havoc is hard to prepare for, especially with a short turnaround (second games of tournament weekends) so that gives the Rams an advantage. I also think Shaka Smart is a great coach, and it doesn't hurt to make some of these picks based on coaching!

Louisville, Florida, Indiana, Ohio State

Florida ... interesting!

The South regional has the look of something that could be thrown into chaos pretty quickly. Could be any number of teams from there.

I agree that Smart's defense catches teams off-guard, I just have a tough time seeing them get past Kansas. And Akron is is a tougher matchup than people imagine.

To be honest, I haven't really done a bracket yet. I need more time to study. First impression, though, is that I think Louisville and Indiana will get there.

I'm really liking Nate Wolters and South Dakota State in that region...Trey Burke vs. Wolters will be a nice PG matchup in early round.

The West regional is really hard for me to figure. That's one that could get wild. And like Patrick said, the South is tricky. I think Kansas is definitely at risk of losing to a team like North Carolina, which would screw up everything.

Agreed. Carolina is a team that's grown up a lot this season. McAdoo is a tough matchup...for any team.

South Dakota State and Davidson both seem to be the best bets for big round-of-64 upsets. 14s over 3s. I just don't think I see any 15s knocking out 2s this year, and definitely not any 16s over 1s.

You're right on that, Dan. There's a lot of "are they for real?" teams of varying degrees in the West bracket. And one of these years, Wisconsin is going to win four in a row. Maybe it's this year.

My thing with double-digit seeds is that there are very few "upsets" we actually see coming. I mean, who would've even considered Norfolk State last year over Missouri? There will probably be a couple like that this year.

I guess my point is, the teams that seem to spring huge upsets aren't the teams we sit here and talk about all week as being "dangerous" teams. The degree of randomness in this tournament, year after year, is breathtaking.

One oddball possibility for a 15/2 that goes against an earlier pick is Iona/Ohio State ... if the Buckeyes are content to trade baskets. Momo Jones could have a 35-point day in him. Iona, though, isn't as good as last year and certainly isn't the most disciplined bunch.

Finally figured out this thing ... Fun times.

Dan, that's a good point. My one claim to fame last year was that I did predict Lehigh over Duke (and I have video evidence!) but a lot of those are hard to predict. Folks seem to be going with South Dakota State based on the potential for a big Nate Wolters night -- which is how some of these upsets happen (ala C.J. McCollum)

My final four: Louisville, Kansas, Miami, New Mexico.

Nobody has mentioned a word about Florida-Northwestern State as an upset possibility. What has Florida done away from home that makes them a lock to do anything in this tournament?

It's all about matchups...and those teams that typically pull off the upsets we rarely see coming always seem to have great guard play. McCollum, Ali Farokhmanesh, DJ Copper, Steph Curry

My biggest disappointment is that Wolters did not wind up in Austin. Hope he has a big run to the Sweet 16 somehow.

In that vein, the 13 seeds all have one player that could do real damage.

Anyone in the SEC can go out very early. I agree, Florida is vulnerable for sure.

Florida is perplexing. They either beat teams by 30 points or lose a close one. When they're not scoring in transition, they're not very potent. Their starting 5 should be much better in the half-court, though.

To follow up on what Scott was saying, if you have guards (La Salle) or are deep and veteran (Middle Tennessee), you have a chance. Could be a good year for play-in winners, too.

I like Middle Tennessee...if they win the play-in. Team is very deep, that helps for upset bids, too.

I'm just hoping we get a rematch of the canceled aircraft carrier game: Georgetown-Florida in the Sweet 16.

I'll enjoy watching the First Four. Not sure how many fans across the country will feel the same way with these matchups.

Dibs on Ole Miss and this guy

I'm intrigued by Valpo. They're 66th in KenPom and have really good offensive numbers. Tough matchup with Michigan State, obviously, but a double-digit seed that can score is a double-digit seed that can win.

Katz, that's a tough question. It's been such a wacky season, I wouldn't be surprised if a few double-digit seeds get through the first weekend. And does Oregon count? The Ducks should NOT be a 12 seed, but on paper their wins would look like upsets.

I'd have offered up New Mexico State if it got paired with any of the other No. 4 seeds. Against Saint Louis, not so much.

That Wisconsin-Ole Miss game is my favorite of the first round. Really looking forward to the, well, contrast in personalities.

Instead, I'll go with Middle Tennessee if it makes it out of the play-in game, Bucknell over Butler as the substitute.

After Marshall Henderson called all the SEC coaches "losers," I can't wait to see what he'll say about Bo Ryan.

I've got Belmont, Davidson, Iowa State and Minnesota (if that's even an upset).

As much as I dislike Arizona (not personally, just their team), Belmont won't beat them. They just don't defend at all, and they're so small up front.

Who is the most NBA-ready player in the tournament? Who are you excited to see play on this stage?

Really surprised to see what's become of Arizona's season. Was so high on them, too high, clearly, when I went out there in November.

McLemore, Shabazz, Otto Porter are most NBA-ready

That Otto Porter guy is pretty good, I guess

I feel like I'm cheating on this since I saw Georgetown in person about eight times, but any chance to see Otto Porter dissect opponents is pretty fun. Exceptional understanding of how to exploit defenses.

McLemore is ready, but clearly not to be a No. 1 option. I see Shabazz slipping some in the draft.

Eric you think Smart has NBA upside?

At worst, I think Marcus Smart will be a very solid NBA role player for more than a decade.

Shabazz will be better in the NBA than in college. Floor spacing will help him, and he'll have a much better body in the NBA when he can work on it 24-7 under training of an NBA staff. The UCLA conditioning program has been terrible for years.

I think Isaiah Canaan of Murray State will be the Damian Lillard of this year's draft...

I'm with Patrick. I've seen Otto play a lot in person, too, and he RARELY disappoints. He just needs to put a little meat on those bones, but I think he'll do well at the next level. Really great understanding of the game. He learned the game by playing with his dad and uncles, and the way his dad describes it is that Otto learned to anticipate plays ahead of time. He's just got a great basketball IQ.

No doubt. Agree. Westbrook really shined under Howland too, huh?

I watched Canaan last summer at the LeBron camp and he was very good. I agree, he'll be a solid NBA player.

Would anyone be shocked if ULCA loses in its opening game to Minnesota? Not high on Howland and/or this team without Jordan Adams.

Gotta reach your level of competitive greatness somewhere, even if it's not in Westwood.

I wouldn't be shocked if UCLA loses, but I wouldn't be shocked if UCLA wins, either. Minnesota hasn't been right for a couple months. Limped into the tournament in every sense of the word.

Minnesota's last win outside Minneapolis was Jan. 9 and hasn't made it out of the round of 64 since 1997*. Pass.

Minnesota and Illinois are both streaky Big Ten teams...had a tough time determining if they'll win based on matchup...or lose based on momentum..

While we're on the Ben Howland topic

Illinois can't win unless it makes a bunch of threes. Colorado is among the top-third of the teams in the country at defending the three. I'll take Colorado there.

Speaking of Minnesota...

I just always look forward to figuring out what we don't know, which this tournament delivers year after year.

In the micro, I'm curious to see if the Mountain West has a strong postseason.

League is a lot more respected than the Pac-12...

I'm looking forward to seeing whether or not this is the year Gonzaga makes the Final Four. If not now -- with this roster -- when? Seems like an interesting question, too, in light of Butler and VCU's runs. Gonzaga was the model for mid-major programs hoping to become successful national brands. Can they get to the Final Four or title game?

Bigger picture, do we see teams that haven't had much tournament success in recent years --- the Miamis, Saint Louises, New Mexicos, etc. --- have long runs in them

Gonzaga in that group as well, though it has won a tournament game four years running.

Oh, one other thing I'm curious about is how successful the Big Ten will be. Great regular season, but how many will advance deep into the tournament? Did they tire themselves too much physically, emotionally and mentally with that grueling regular season?

Good point Patrick. The MWC has been a postseason underachiever. My hunch is, once again, the league has several good teams but no great ones. I am not that impressed by New Mexico.

And also, how many Big Ten teams have to reach the Sweet 16/Elite Eight/Final Four/whatever your determinant of success is for the conference to be viewed as living up to the hype?

I'm not so enthused with New Mexico, either. But who beats them on that side of the bracket?

New Mexico is 227th in the country in 2-point FG percentage. That's awful. Teams are going to take away the 3, and they better be able to make some mid-range shots and layups. You need to get some cheap baskets, and they don't offensive rebound or force turnovers.
