@pointon_scott I dunno. A bit I guess. I think 7" tabs are better than larger ones. At 10" I'd just say get a small laptop/netbook tbh.

@Yeoman_Guard True, but the iPad has been out for a while and is hugely popular, so why try and out do what is already succesful and working

@pointon_scott Just my take. Its just. £500 on a 10" pad. £500 buys you a vastly more powerful laptop. Don't start me on 'ultra books' lol

For me, tablets have always been the most useless inventions of all-time. It does not fit in my pocket and it's not quite big enough to do real work on, it's like the third wheel or something.

I agree they do seem a little forced onto consumers, although I'd be lying if I didn't say there wasn't a certain appeal to them. For me, the main thing that gets its me how much they are. Consider spending say £500 on a 64GB tablet, and then spend the same amount on laptop, or half that amount on a netbook. Sure it wouldn't be as shiny or as refined perhaps, but you get a lot more performance for the price in my opinion. At least a smaller 7" tablet gives you the same kind of 'experience', but costs less than the larger counterparts.

Tablets are really nice, as they are way easier to use than laptops for a lot of common household activities. I personally would like a Little iPad for reading books, a devices for as my Mac crashes and for keeping my agenda up-to-date.

tablets are really nice,but i don't think it can substitute a laptop or a desktop computer..it's more for diversion than work

I think it will be interesting to see how Apple converts the bigger iPad into a content creation device... but the magic will probably depend on the app developers (like binary thumb with Grid). The iPad mini seems to be more content consumption focused.

As someone who hasn't owned a tablet, I'm not so well versed on the subject. I think smaller tablets (such as the ipad mini, nexus 7, kindle fire) make great content consumption (nice term :D) devices, but I'm not sure how well larger devices could act content creation devices. Depends on the kind of content I suppose. At least its a nice point on which to differentiate between small/'full size' tablets.

What content do people create on tablets? I can imagine they'd be handy to work whilst travelling, but, working on a tablet with a laptop, desktop or AIO available would seem counter productive IMO.
