Mike's tweet provided a nice segue for branching this conversation. What do you think? Should YouTube be used for political ads? Is that a smart way to grab the attention of younger voters or other/independent/outlier voters?

when i log in to youtube i'm there to see either 1) adorable animals or 2) morons injuring themselves. i don't want to listen to some crap about a nerd politician feeding asbestos to baby pandas or whatever.

if politicians are gonna advertise on youtube they should do youtube-style ads so it's less jarring and lame. like an army of dinosaurs are invading chelsea and things are looking pretty grim then scott brown rides in on this big fucking polar bear with laser cannons and he just blasts the dinosaurs to little meaty pieces. then the tag line says "SCOTT BROWN SAVED CHELSEA FROM DINOSAURS. VOTE FOR HIM (OBVIOUSLY)."

i mean i still wouldn't vote but hey at least i'd be entertained.

Even though I'm really interested in politics and consider myself politically engaged, I think political campaign managers are just missing the point. These guys are as good as lobbyists IMHO. Mike, you should check out political animals. No asbestos used on baby pandas.

i mean, you can't tell someone *not* to advertise on youtube. but that doesn't make it any less lame when they try. they're over-financed and out of touch. i mean, just because tv and youtube both emit sounds and moving pictures, that doesn't mean you should run the same crappy ads on both mediums. they're a completely different product.

Exactly. That's what I mean. TV and YouTube are being rendered as the same medium.

Much better use of organic YouTube content and messaging. Who'd have thought that a spaghetti sauce would be more politically correct?
