For the last month or so I've shifted my development studies to primarily iOS, and I've really began adapting and learning to absolutely love the language and the iOS workflow. However, after looking at just how many iOS developers and applications are out there, I've started to wonder on whether or not it's smart of me to focus on it full time.

Is the market over-saturated to the point that it's become impossible to create an application without it having major competition or having it drown in the millions of other applications out there? Or am I just worrying too much and should ship something and see what happens.

I do believe the market is quite saturated. It seems like for every good application there are 2 others that are almost identical in function. The apps that break through and are recognized by the masses are 1. Not just good, but Great applications 2. Have a word of mouth marketability 3. Beautifully designed and easy functionality.
