Furby was always hot to me.
But I love the success of this product, not because it's teetering on one generation's borrowed interest -- but because of the way it iterates.

When I was a kid I got one of these and it was one of those moments where I could not get the computer to understand what I wanted. I did not understand why it did anything.
As a side note - I really REALLY fucking love their social strategy engagement. I found their tumblr organically a few months ago and thought it was the funniest thing (it's basically a zine designed for citizens of Furby-land).
The smart thing that Hasbro is realizing is our generation is increasingly nostalgic (thank you internet). They're tapping into parents who had these when they were kids, and using that to their advantage.
I think the CEO really gets it too - I enjoy this quote:
"Thankfully, as Lee explains, the digital marketing campaign “offers consumers the ability to completely immerse themselves into a self-selected experience that lets the consumer drive the conversation and experience the product and brand on their terms, not ours"
