Was NOT expecting this at all, especially since it's a branch new game studio. Halo 4 is apparently the *best* Halo yet and, according to IGN, the best game this year on ANY platform. Holy shit...

Supposedly this game is actually amazing. They rerecorded all of the sound effects which I think was a major issue in previous halo games. And it sounds like the coop has a really interesting story line. I mean its not that big of a stretch for this to be the best game of the year since Halo games are usually pretty strong.

Right, but the odd part is that it's a branch new studio. Bungie passed it off to 343 Studios, and this is 343's *first* game.

As IGN mentions in the interview, it seems like Microsoft gave them a blank check for Halo 4.

It's a high quality game for sure, but being a sequel in such a long series it personally doesn't excite me much and definitely isn't my game of the year. I'm much more looking forward to playing Far Cry 3 than I was Halo 4.
