Who would like to meet in New Orleans to discuss the inverted/flipped class and/or standards-based grading? When would be a good time and place to meet?
The only other meal time that would work for me is Thursday lunch, before Brian (and maybe most others) are in town. I definitely want to go to the informatics and pedagogy interest groups.
I don't know about starting late on Saturday, at last for me. There's a session I'd like to attend at 1:45. We could start at 12:15 or 12:30 without Bryn, and then you guys could go on without me after 1:30 if I go to that session.
If Jill can make it that late after her early morning committee stuff, we could do 11pm Thursday or Friday. Or we could meet during a session time block, if there's nothing interesting. (Not likely to find a good overlap for all of our interests, though.)
There's little chance I'm going to still be awake at 11:00 p.m. either day. 6:30 flight Thurs. morning and the 7:00 a.m. meeting on Friday (plus a race on Sat. morning).
The only session I'm hell-bent on attending is Friday afternoon's Schoenberg one. (Am working on a Schoenberg book and, oddly, one of the papers is a reaction to an article I published a couple years ago.) Would likely be happy to find reasons not to go to others. Suffering from serious burnout...
I've talked to a few more folks that are interested in meeting with us, but there are a lot of potential conflicts. How about this: we meet at 12:30 in the Sheraton second-floor restaurant area. People can bring their lunch, come late, leave early, whatever. Pretty informal. I'd like to email SMT-talk or SMT-announce soon to get the word out. Are there any objections to this? If I don't hear anything soon, I'll just announce this on twitter and the listserves.
Thanks for your feedback! Team Branch
