I like that article with the emphasis on free weights. I feel that while that might produce the most strength gain, for me, a more balanced program that incorporates agility and cardio is just more fun and easy to stay with. I think weights should be included more and their value for weight loss and overall fitness is under appreciated which backs up the article. I always did weights but never cardio like martial arts/aerobics/spinning but I found adding them improves my flexibility, balance, and coordination which were weak points for me.
