Evidence suggests that earlier tracks on an album tend to chart better, that is they are listened to more. Should music producers respond to this trend by loading up the first part of an album with hits? Or should producers be putting thought into how tracks fit together, regardless of single/hit potential?

Perhaps some combination of the two? Maybe it doesn't matter - are listeners picking out individual songs to listen to or listening to an album on shuffle? What are your listening habits?

Hi Billy, I agree with you that if an album's early track is good there are more chances to keep listening to the album. But I love when you find an album whose track list is specifically in order to get you to certain mood, it's like a good story crafted by the artist, and you can tell the difference between albums made by record companies and albums made by the artist

When I was younger I usually put my playlist on shuffle but as I get older I tend to curate more my music and listen to the albums the intended way, specially when I´m rediscovering music from the 50´s and 60´s
