Digital Humanities + Academic Libraries: I am interested in learning how academic libraries are involved with campus-wide digital humanities (DH) initiatives or programs. I work for an academic library at a medium-sized liberal arts university and have been invited to our campus’ initial DH planning meeting. If you have (or know of) a DH program with a library component that recently started, I would love to talk more. Or, if your university is planning on starting DH program and your library is involved it would be cool to hear where you're at and what you're learning. Of course all conversation about DH and libraries are welcome!

I don't know if I can be of much help Shawn. I work in a public library with teens and haven't really dove into this topic. But while we're here...can you help explain Digital Humanities to me?

@Justin Thanks for letting me know. Being new to this whole Branch thing, I was just reaching out to the few folks here I knew were librarians. To your question, one explanation of digital humanities (DH):

DH "is a field of study, research, teaching, and invention concerned with the intersection of computing and the disciplines of the humanities. It is methodological by nature and interdisciplinary in scope. It involves investigation, analysis, synthesis and presentation of information in electronic form. It studies how these media affect the disciplines in which they are used, and what these disciplines have to contribute to our knowledge of computing."
