Is it just another arms race?

Which is more effective; weapon-free school zones (disarmament) or preventative security (a gun safe in the principal's office)?

I don't see anything wrong with having an armed security guard, but arming teachers is a terrible idea. Funny how people on the Right proposed that, but don't want public school teachers to get paid.
