Alexis's post on Dark Social has sparked a number of opinions on how the web (analytics companies) has been categorizing email, IM, etc. convos as direct traffic and Chartbeat's switch to adding those "article" links (e.g., theatlantic.com/landingpage/superlongclearlydidnttypethisinabrowserarticlename) to be categorized as social - making "social" not just Facebook, Twitter, etc. What's your take?
