Ok, I've made my mind up. Thanks everyone for their contributions, you've been tremendously helpful with insights I never would have thought of!
Given that I want to migrate my website over to a new technology, and based on the feedback I've been hearing about jQuery and Redis, I've decided to ditch both of those paths in favor of CSS transitions. I feel the use of native browser transitions will make for a smooth switch from my previous CMS sans-fussiness. And as far as I understand, they have built-in Github support (however unfortunately, no Linux bundle). But I think I'm okay with that since I mainly develop on a Mac (which has Linux built into the hardware anyway, right? (nevertheless, it remains a non-issue for me, I'm still learning)).
So with that, thanks again, and I'll keep everyone posted in the near future. In the meantime, keep your eyes peeled for a fresh new look!
all the best,
Dustin
