Saw this project on Kickstarter. Definitely a unique concept!

What are your thoughts on it?

I like the idea of it especially since it's so portable. But there are two notes I have on it.

1) The flip "blade" portion of the card seems flimsy almost to the point of it being easily breakable. That could be just perception but it's something that I noticed right away

2) For someone who carries his gear around all the time (check out the "What's In Your Bag thread branch.com), I don't see this is being potentially useful. Since my new iPad needs a cable and the ChargeCard isn't compatible with the iPad, I'll be bringing a cable around anyway. A possible reason for why I wouldn't need this

One thing I forgot to mention also is the fact that the timing isn't that great. In the event that Apple's newer devices use a new dock connector, the ChargeCard won't be usable on the new hardware.

They addressed this question on the page but they offered no resolution other than that if it does happen, the current version will still be supported on over 200 million iPhones (P.S. "We aren't planning a design for the possible upcoming devices at this time).

1) I already supported this project, I agree that it's something that isn't a great timing, but for the fact that I and my parents have the current gen iPhone4's/4s's I figured it's a good investment for the time. I'm sure they will redesign this for the new dock sometime in the future since this project is doing so well. As for it being flimsy, I think it's like a lot of items including your iphone, you just have to be careful with it.

2) I currently don't have an iPad so this doesn't really effect me I guess. But if they launch that iPad mini, which I believe they will that'll be a different story :)

Good point! My family will all be upgrading to the new device so that's definitely something to consider. Ultimately though it's just a cool thing. It's a unique way to connect your device via USB and solves the problem of portability.

Anthony (who I'm sure will be entering the conversation soon) brought a point that I agree with also. The one issue the ChargeCard has is the fact that it sticks really far out from the computer. And because it is only flexible at one point, it could be difficult to use in certain tight situations.

Assuming that its not as flimsy as it looks and they make it work with the new iPhone adapter, I will definitely be buying one of these looks like a great gadget.

I think this project is amazing!!! I wish they developed something similar but with a micro-usb, that would be able to charge any android smartphone and a lot of other devices!
