I want to share some of the process I observed at Google this week, and where better to start than with brainstorming.
We began our second day at Google with a brainstorming exercise that started with user/driver interviews. We then moved into how that user might be aided with different technologies, and then lastly into molding our ideas to align with business goals.
Google defines innovation as:
New + Surprising + Radically Useful
So it makes sense that they would start with user needs and end with business goals.
They believe in creating products for one user (which is why they created G+ ... ba-zing!). You can define this as developing very specific personas to push into.
I recreated the graph of their process (attached).
