There's no way these three should get in ahead of Pete Rose. Or even Mark McGwire, if you're going to compare like to like in terms of cheaters.
But back to Rose: Can Bud Selig let it go already? The steroid era put it all in perspective: There's betting on your own team and then there's abusing drugs to gain an edge.
Greats like Jackson and Rose should be in, no question. However does that open the door for the cheaters from the steroid era to get in years later when the fans have become less outraged?
I'd be happy to see Morris, McGriff, Raines and Bagwell make it in this year. Some old school players that played the game hard and without cheating…as far as we know.
I'm not sure I knew about the extent of the evidence against Sosa (as in: there's not much): cbssports.com
Was anybody expecting nobody to be selected this year?
Coincidentally, I watched the "5th Inning" of the Ken Burns Baseball doc last night, and they had footage of the first class of Cooperstown. Babe Ruth rubbing shoulders with all the old-timers... the only ones missing were Christy Matthewson (dead) and Ty Cobb (Ty being Ty). Neat stuff.
