Oh, in that case I don't think you have the right expectations for Heroku. I do agree that it isn't a replacement for something like WordPress. You can't go from 0 to website very easily with it.

However, if you have some amount of programming experience, it's not too bad to learn how to build a Rails app, and Heroku totally takes away all of the headaches of configuring a server.

In 67-272, a class which expects you to have 121-level [I don't know what this is in the new CS requirements] programming skills, they go from 0 to totally able to deploy an app to Heroku in a semester, which I think is awesome.

Don't get me wrong - I love Heroku. I don't think there's anything better for quickly deploying a web application. And maybe I *am* expecting more from Heroku than would be reasonable.

But I still think that, for languages like Python or Ruby to be good 'first web app' starting points, there needs to be a good, easy way to deploy them. I remember when I first learned Python (with Django), and I wanted to deploy on Dreamhost. That was virtually *impossible* to set up. It's really hard to argue that Python, Ruby, or any other scripting language (that isn't PHP or Perl) should be "baby's first language" if you can't bootstrap a website without headache.
